- Other Information: Vino di Anna has been a small family owned and operated wine producer since 2008 when Anna Martens and Eric Narioo, along with their two young boys, started making wine on Mount Etna in Italy. Vino di Anna’s 6 hectares are situated high on the north face of the active volcano, near the village of Solicchiata. Because the volcano is in constant eruption, the soil is black and very fertile. The fresh cinders from Mount Etna sprinkle Vino di Anna’s land, making it rich with minerals. Martens and Narioo farm their vines biodynamically. All their grapes are hand harvested and grown on alberello ‘bush vines,’ some over 100 years old. This ‘Palmentino Rosso’ is a red field blend of 95% Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Alicante ‘Grenache’ and about 5% of white grapes: Grecanico, Minella, Catarratto. Four day foot maceration before being foot trodden and matured in stainless steel, old oak casks and qvevri. Bottled unfiltered, unfined and with little to no sulphur. Perfectly chuggable!
