- Other Information: Vino di Anna has been a small family owned and operated wine producer since 2008 when Anna Martens and Eric Narioo, along with their two young boys, started making wine on Mount Etna in Italy. Vino di Anna’s 6 hectares are situated high on the north face of the active volcano, near the village of Solicchiata. Because the volcano is in constant eruption, the soil is black and very fertile. The fresh cinders from Mount Etna sprinkle Vino di Anna’s land, making it rich with minerals. Martens and Narioo farm their vines biodynamically. All their grapes are hand harvested and grown on alberello ‘bush vines,’ some over 100 years old. This ‘Jeudi 15’ is a blend of 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% field blend of native white grapes. Handpicked and destemmed into five large mastellones. 3 day maceration. The fermenting must was then pressed directly into a 2,000 litre Georgian qvevri. The wine finished alcoholic fermentation, underwent malolactic fermentation and was left on fine lees for 6 months. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
