Natalino Del Prete 'Anne' 2020
Producer: Natalino Del Prete
Other Information: The southeastern Puglia region of Italy is known for mass producing mechanically harvested and chemically farmed red wines. But in the small town of Salento, Natalino del Prete has established himself as an anomaly by treating his family owned vines with the utmost respect. For three generations now del Prete’s vineyards have been hand harvested with no fertilizers, minimal plowing, no irrigation, and no chemicals. Del Prete believes in organic methods that focus on restraint rather than interference. With 7 hectares, and some vines up to 80 years old, he honors the indigenous varitetals Primitivo and Negroamaro and keeps the business small—every member of his winemaking team is family. All del Prete wines are fermented and aged in large concrete tanks and are unfined, unfiltered, and have no additional sulphur.
