Notes: Margins Wine is a small low-intervention winemaking project from Megan Bell. Bell received her BS in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis and apprenticed in wineries and vineyards in Napa, the Livermore Valley, the Willamette Valley, New Zealand's Central Otago, and France's Loire Valley before tending her own vines in the Santa Cruz mountains. Much like people living on the 'margins of society,' vineyards can be outcasts too. Bell works to showcase grapes from underrepresented regions, vineyards, and varietals in her winemaking. The grapes of this 'Chenin Blanc' were destemmed then fermented and aged on skins for 25 days with gentle punchdowns once daily. Pressed then aged in neutral oak for 5 months. Native fermentation, no fining, no filtration, no other modifications or additions except 10 ppm of sulfur dioxide upon barreling in September and 30 ppm of sulfur dioxide the week before bottling.
