Bruno Duchêne 'La Luna' VDP Rouge 2019
Producer: Bruno Duchêne
Varietal: 90% Grenache, 10% Carignan
Notes: Purchased fruit from roughly 12 parcels surrounding the village of Banyuls. The soils here are never worked and grass grows free. The Grenache component of the wine is mostly Grenache Noir though there is a proportion of Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc in the blend. The wine is named after the dog Bruno had when he started his winery in Banyuls. Fermented whole-cluster in wood and stainless steel vats, aged in Burgundian barrels.
In a past life, Bruno Duchêne was a wild mushroom distributor in the Loire valley. Today, he lives in the town of Banyuls, where he produces dry reds from some of France's hardest to work vineyards.
