Laurent Lebled 'La Sauvignonne' 2019
Producer: Laurent Lebled
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Notes: After working over thirty years as a wood merchant, Laurent Lebled was laid off during the 2008 recession. But luckily his life turned around when he unexpectedly fell into winemaking from the encouragement of his friends. Lebled’s 3.9 hectares are located in France’s Loire region where he grows native varietals: Cabernet Franc, Gamay, and Savignon. Lebled has been dedicated to producing his wines as naturally as possible from the start—his 30-60 year-old vines are cultivated organically, his grapes are hand harvested, and his wines are produced without any additional sulphites. The result is wholehearted and authentic selections that are broadening the spectrum of what natural wines can taste like. Lebled’s wines are the real deal—light, fresh and pure. This 100% ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ has been macerated from 7-12 days in a specially formatted concrete tank. This tank has a raised chestnut wood floor that allows the juice from the grapes to pass directly onto the concrete below, so it has very little skin contact. The juice is fermented as naturally as possible without commercial yeasts, preserving the true flavor of the Sauvignon Blanc.
